So, our youngest turned 13 last week! For his birthday we got him a dog from the shelter: Molly – he named her. His older brothers gave him money to buy a bike! His older sister called him (she lives out of town) and wished him a Happy Birthday!
Molly has a “cherry eye” and “entropian” she is having surgery tomorrow for them both. Have you ever heard of either of them
or had any experiences with this?
The “cherry eye”, from what I have been told, is a clogged tear duct and a relatively simple procedure. The “entropian” is a condition where, I think, the eyelid get turned under? and the eyelashes scrape the cornea and can cause damage to the eye if not corrected.
She looks like a Boxer Mix and was a stray and the shelter had her for 30 days, no doubt people didn’t want her because of the way her eye looked and she’s grown. They aren’t sure how old she is, the shelter said 1-3 yrs. She is still working on house training and chews ALOT!
When we brought her home last week, she was really fearful of everything! The back door especially! She wouldn’t go in or out unless it was propped all the way open and no one was touching it!
She has conquered that fear and the fear of the leash, she is still uncertain about alot of stuff.
She is so sweet! Now, I just need to find a kennel to fit her, and great deals on dog food and treats!
We’ve never had a Boxer – any suggestions or warnings? lol She reminds me of “Chance” from Homeward Bound – The Incredible Journey!
We also have THE MOST AWESOME Vet, ever! We love him, he has taken care of all of our pets through the years! I checked prices on the procedure he is doing for her and others vets are charging $1000- $1500! He charges $250! I LOVE a good deal!
Last year, my oldest son needed to take his dog for an emergency deal and the 24 hour pet hospital was trying to get him to take out a payment plan for $3000 to do the procedure she needed immediately. We called our vet at home, he said she could wait until morning and we took her in and it was only $700! Incredible! ALWAYS, ALWAYS check around – don’t leave any stone unturned!
