This is helpful but I’ve always wondered if there was a way to see which of the inserts still have valid coupons in them. I find that it’s easier to know which ones to keep vs. which ones to throw away. I might miss a posting or two and then I’m left holding onto inserts that I don’t need to. I love my coupons too much to see them in the garbage unless I know I absolutely have no use for them any longer.

Well, in honor of this comment I’ve given this feature a permanent home. Hover over the “Resources” tab and scroll down to the “Expired Inserts” feature to see the latest version. You can expect to see it updated about once a month.

what do you mean by 1st and 2nd? how do we know which ones are 1st and 2nd? I have never figured that one out.

No, just something I found on the internet. As for 1st and 2nd, there is no easy way to tell. That’s why everything past March, I’ll just combine 1st and 2nd inserts into one and forget the division. If you aren’t sure, the best way to tell is to just hold on until they both expire.

I put all the inserts in file folders arranged in a stand up file on the desk. I print out the coupon insert lists from Southern Savers where members in different areas report what we actually got, compared to the preview. I keep those lists in a purple folder at the front and I use it as an index. It gives the exp. date for each Q, so I can scan the list, and get that one remaining outlier, before I ditch them. It is so hard to put those inserts in the trashcan.
I then use the coupon databases on various sites to quickly look up products I plan to buy to see if there are any current Q’s. Many of these link you right to the site of a printable.
