Ask A Walmart Expert: How Do You Organize Your Coupons

Ask a Walmart Expert

Since starting this blog I have been contacted by readers many times with questions about couponing, Frugal Living, Walmart’s policies and procedures, and various other little things.  I figure if one person is wondering about it, there might be others so this will be an on-going feature to answer the most common questions that come up.  If you have a question, add “PastorAarn” on Skype or email me at groceryshopforfreeatthemart [at] gmail [dot] com.

How do you organize coupons?

When I first started couponing all those many years ago, Dian and I had a big fat binder with different sections for different types of coupons.  It was big and bulky but it had the advantage of having every coupon with me when I shopped.

A few years ago I switched to a file cabinet and coupon wallet.  Basically, all coupons go in the cabinet filed by date and I only clip the coupons I want and put them in a much smaller wallet.  The only thing about this way is I have to plan my shopping trips before I head to the store to make sure I have the coupons I need but I prefer it that way.  Hope that helps!

I tried to do it that way and I always seem to run across clearance items and then my coupons were at home. So I starting clipping them by category: personal items, health items, household, grocery, etc. I am still in the process of organizing them. Any tips?

One of the advantages of practically living at Walmart is if I see something I don’t have a coupon for, I’ll be back the next day. I think you’ve got a good plan there.
