Dallas Arboretum Presents a Tribute to Buddy Holly June 25!
The Buddy Holly Revue is a tribute cover band dedicated to the late Buddy Holly, who is often considered to be one of the main figures of rock and roll in the mid-1950s. Honoring one of the earliest and greatest rock icons, the lead singer of The Buddy Holly Revue, Johnny Kempt, is said to have an almost identical voice to the late Buddy Holly.
Missy Whisler, Dallas Arboretum’s vice president of sales, said, “As a tribute to a rock icon who is greatly remembered and missed, we are excited to have The Buddy Holly Revue here at the Arboretum. We encourage guests to participate in the weekly costume contest to win prizes. This week’s theme is to wear your best rockability costume to win the ‘Old School Cool’ award.”
In addition to the coolest view of White Rock Lake, attendees can bring picnics and beverages or purchase food from food trucks including The Butcher’s Son, Rock-n-Ricks and The Guava Tree. The gardens are also open to stroll through before the concert to enjoy the Summer at the Arboretum display and the various gardens.
The concert series continues every Thursday through July 2 and again in the fall. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the spring concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Single tickets start at $10-$27 and are available for purchase online. Tickets include parking.
For group tickets of 15 or more, call Susan Armanovs, 214-515-6520.
