Normal Is Boring: Creative Easter Egg Hunt Ideas That Will Excite Your Kids
One of the most anticipated and fun Easter activities is the Easter egg hunt. Every year, parents, as well as churches, businesses, clubs, will make host an Easter Egg Hunt and make kids go wild as they search for their Easter Egg treasures. Each egg is filled with candies, goodies, and even money!
But, you don’t have to fill the eggs OR their baskets with just candy – check this out:
There are a lot of Easter Egg hunt activities you can do with the whole family. You can also spice it up by taking it to the next level.
Scoop up your plastic eggs and prepare a fantastic Easter egg hunt for your kids, family members, and friends! Here are some creative ideas to plan a great hunt. Children and adults will love these fun and creative Easter egg ideas!
Easter Egg Tree
Take this childhood tradition to another level by hanging the plastic eggs in a tree. Hang the goodie-filled eggs on branches and let the kids pull them and collect the treasures inside.
This is perfect for kids who don’t like roaming around or those who have limited spaces. You can also try and fill only a few pieces while place “A Try Again” message in the others.
Here are some filler ideas that don’t involve candy.
Hunt For The Golden Ticket
Instead of filling the eggs with goodies, place different coded messages inside!
Hide a few eggs with a special golden ticket inside. At the end of the hunt, they can swap the ticket for a bigger prize.
Find The Correct Word
When deciding on which of the Easter Egg Hunt Ideas you’d like to do, don’t forget about this one! Take the Easter egg hunt on an education twist! Hide some foam letters inside the eggs and have the kids spell out a few Easter-themed words.
Challenge them to find as many words as possible.
Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt
Make hunting for Easter eggs a little more fun for older kids.
Host an activity at night and use glow-in-the-dark eggs. Scatter them around the backyard or turn off all the lights in your house.
Modern Egg Hunt
Older children and even teens will love this idea!
Print QR codes and hide them in the eggs. The kids can use these QR codes and scan them for a fun surprise at the end of the game!
Grant My Wish
Instead of getting candies and other goodies, fill the eggs with special coupons that the kids will love: Skip a chore, watch TV for extended hours, a day at the mall, choose a special meal, or take control of the TV!
Little builders and Lego enthusiasts will love this Easter egg hunt idea!
Fill the eggs with Lego pieces. Once the kids have found their eggs, they need to put together a set. Give special prizes to the biggest, fastest, and most unique builder!
When thinking of Easter Egg Hunt Ideas I can’t help but, think of one of my favorite Scavenger Hunt type activities. Create a photo hunt for the teens or picture-loving kids.
In addition to collecting traditional Easter eggs, they can look for special eggs that tell an Easter story. They need to open them up and take a photo with their phone (we used to use Polaroids – so happy you can use phones now Polaroid film was SUPER expensive!).
Once the game ends, they need to show the series of photos and they will get a special gift: It can be a gift card at the local store, a coffee shop or from Amazon.
You can also use newer instant cameras that are more economical.
Put together a list of eggs that the kids can find: A green egg, a striped egg, and a golden egg, etc.
Once the kids have found each item on their list, they can trade it for an exciting treat: A movie ticket, a gift card, a toy, or money.
