Fantasy In Sand!
Recently we were invited to check out Fantasy in Sand here in Arlington, TX. It was just incredible! Huge sand sculptures everywhere. The theme was the book The Wizard Of Oz, and it really brought the story to life with huge lifesized characters and scenes right out of the story made it all come to life as you walked through.
IT’S REAL SAND.
No kidding! Fantasy in Sand™ is created with the same sand you would find on a beach, minus the shells, hermit crabs and strangers with metal detectors. It’s “organically” pure, too, with no other fixative additives or binding agents added to harm the environment. We’re like the “vegan health bar” of sand attractions with sand so yellow…it’s green.
The intricate detailing was so incredible, you recognized every scene instantly!
WE USE 3 MILLION POUNDS OF SAND.
Don’t believe us? Ask the delivery guy who had to carry it. Three million pounds of sand sounds like a lot…and it is! That’s 1,500 tons or the equivalent of 200 elephants, 1,000 hippos or 12,000 average sized NFL linebackers. In fact, you could cover an entire NFL football field 7.5 inches deep with that much sand.
There’s even a 2,ooo square foot sandbox at the end for the kids to express their own creativity.
A BAKER’S DOZEN DO IT IN A FORTNIGHT.
We’ve put together a crack team of 13 SANDsational sculptors from all over the world – several of them international champions – to transform that 3-million-pound pile of sand into famous scenes from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” in just 14 days.
THE LARGEST SANDBOX IN TEXAS…WE’VE GOT IT.
EVERYTHING’S bigger in Texas, and our giant sand box is no exception. Fantasy in Sand™ features a sand play area for the young and the young at heart, which at over 2,000 sq. ft. makes it the largest in the Lone Star State (or probably any state for that matter!).
All of this was housed in a HUGE air conditioned tent near the Texas Ranger Baseball Stadium, so it makes a great summer attraction!
THE LARGEST SCULPTURES IN FANTASY IN SAND™ ARE OVER 20FT HIGH.
The amazing “Emerald City of Oz” and some elements of our “America the Beautiful” display are over 20 feet high. That’s really, REALLY big unless you’re a 21-foot-tall giant, in which case we need to do a lot better just to make you happy. Beanpole.
In Texas, in the summer – well most of the year actually, we look for climate controlled activities, so I was happy to hear this would be in an air conditioned setting since it is going to be here throughout the summer.
