January is National Brain Teaser Month: How Many Plums Can the Farmer Sell?

January is National Brain Teaser Month and I love brain teasers!  Here’s what we are going to.  I’ll post a different brain teaser 3 times a week, if you think you know the answer, leave it in the comments.  I’d love to see how smart my readers are!

Here is today’s Brain Teaser.

A farmer in California owns a beautiful pear tree. He supplies fruit to Walmart. Walmart has called the farmer to see how much fruit is available for them to purchase. The farmer know that the main trunk has 24 branches. Each branch has 12 boughs and each bough has 6 twigs. Since each twig bears one piece of fruit, how many plums will the farmer be able to sell?
