Make Your Old Shoes Trendy Again!

Old Shoes Teendy Again Quick & Easy! I have mentioned more than once that I am not the crafty type.  I don’t know how it happened but my daughter and granddaughter are!

My daughter wanted to share her newest find with you!  She did this with shoes she saw at a thrift store but you can do it with your own shoes, too.  So, here you go:  How To Make Your Old Shoes Trendy Again Quick & Easy!

I saw these sandals at the thrift store and was drawn to them because they were only $3.50, but, I hesitated because they were white (I am not a fan of white shoes).  I was thinking I really wish they were grey or nude I would definitely get them.  Then I thought I can just make them the color I want!  So, I brought them home and starting digging around in my craft paint.  I didn’t have grey so nude it was! Things you will need:
*Acetone or Alcohol
*Cotton balls
*Paint of your color choice;  you can use- fabric paint, acrylic paint and textile medium or Leather Paint
*Paint Brush
*Mixing bowl, if needed

•Step 1 Pick an Item to Paint!  Shoes, Purse,Wallet, Belt, etc.

•Step 2 clean with Acetone or Alcohol using cotton balls

•Step 3 Mixing your Paint: *If you’re using fabric paint or leather paint you can just go ahead and start painting.
If you’re using acrylic paint and textile medium you want to mix 2 parts paint with 1 part medium. You can measure it out if you’d like (I eyeball it).Make Old Shoes Trendy Again

Now your ready to paint, grab the brush of your choice, and go for it

It generally takes 2 coats.  Make sure the first coat is completely dry before applying the second one.  I use my blow dryer, works great!
I used a glossy finish on the straps after the second coat was dry, just because I like the look.  You can use a glossy or matte coat at the end if you would like.  If it’s acrylic use the same mixing instructions as above.

Let them sit over night and you’re good to go!
