Need Storage Solutions? Let’s Get Organized!

in Great Deals on 01/04/11

Storage SolutionsI spent the day today thinking about and shopping for: storage solutions.

Since our kids are growing up and moving out we have moved from a house to a condo and now a few months ago from a condo to an apartment.  I find myself having more storage issues than I remember when we moved to the condo several years ago.

So, I am looking for ways to organize the apartment!  I will share with you what I have done so that if you have any suggestions you can share them with me, or maybe something I stumble upon may help you!

I want to work on my stockpile pantries – I have 1 for kitchen and one for health and beauty.  I also need to work on my kitchen pantry.

I want to work on my towels and sheets, blankets, quilts, and all that jazz storage.

I will begin with my Christmas tree and decorations, because that is the most pressing.  I need to get that tree down to be able to move around in the living room!

The one that is weighing on me the most, and for which I have no clue, is my spice area.  With the apartment, the lack of counter space makes things very difficult.  All small kitchen appliances that normally sat on my counters won’t fit anymore!  My George Foreman Grill, toaster, coffee pot, can opener, microwave, those things are finding homes on top of the refrigerator and in the floor of the kitchen pantry and under the counters – provided there’s room!

But, the spices – oh my goodness, I like to have them above the stove or to the left or right for easy access while cooking.  However, these cabinets are so tiny that I can’t fit them all!  So, I am still pondering about those areas.

So, this is the journey I will be on for the next little bit – organization – makes me laugh a little, I am sure it makes my Mom laugh A LOT – cause that is not my forte’, but, necessity is the Mother of invention – right?

Stick around and help me sort it all out, ok?

I too am new to apartment living, due to a two year transfer of my husbands job. To top it off the company only paid for a thousand pounds of household items to be moved…with two young kids that leaves very little mom things. Anyway back to the point on hand 😉 I will look forward to this journey with you so that I will maybe stay motivated to figure out how to get this place under control.

Dian – I just bought these spice clips to organize my spice cupboard. I hate it being cuttered. Perhaps this will help you out. You can use this for the medicine cabinet too! Check it out! Free shipping in US. http://spiceclipsdirect.com/

    Dian,
Remember that what ever you have excess of, please take it to a local soup kitchen or something because those spices are very expensive, they dont last forever, and you could really help out a lot of people and yourself with just letting go of your overage 🙂 Sharing is caring as you say 🙂 Be kind to yourself if you need to let a few things go. It is ok. You are downsizing 🙂 You can easily restock in your next bigger space for very little money 🙂 You are awesome like that!
