PLAYMOBIL JUNIOR Sand Bakery and Ice Cream Shop Are Made for Sandbox Fun

PLAYMOBIL sent over a couple of their new JUNIOR sand toys to check out, and these are exactly the kind of toys that make sense for summer.

Not because they’re flashy.

Not because they light up, make noise, or need batteries.

Because kids already love playing in the sand, and these give them something fun to do with it.

The two sets they sent were the PLAYMOBIL JUNIOR Sand Bakery and the PLAYMOBIL JUNIOR Sand Ice Cream Shop.

The concept is pretty simple. Instead of just digging holes and filling buckets, kids can use the molds and tools to create pretend baked goods and ice cream treats right in the sandbox.

And honestly, that simplicity is probably what makes them appealing.

PLAYMOBIL JUNIOR Sand Ice Cream Shop

Out of the two sets, this is probably the one that will get the biggest reaction from most kids.

There’s just something about pretending to run an ice cream stand that never seems to get old.

The set includes molds and scoops that let kids create sand ice cream cones and other treats. It doesn’t take long before the sandbox turns into a full-blown ice cream shop complete with customers, employees, and prices that somehow change every five minutes.

What stood out right away was how easy everything is for little hands to use.

Nothing feels complicated.

There aren’t dozens of pieces.

Kids can start playing with it almost immediately without needing an adult to explain how everything works.

The bakery set follows the same idea but focuses on cakes, muffins, and other baked creations.

If there’s a child in your life who has ever handed over a mud pie and expected you to eat it, they’ll probably love this one.

The molds are easy to fill and dump out, and the finished shapes actually hold together surprisingly well in damp sand.

One thing that’s nice about this set is that it encourages a lot of pretend play beyond simply making shapes.

Before long, kids are running a bakery, taking orders, serving customers, and creating their own little stories while they play.

That’s the kind of play that tends to keep them occupied longer than toys that only do one thing.

What I Liked

A lot of toys today seem determined to do everything for kids.

They make sounds.

They flash lights.

They talk.

They basically do all the work.

These don’t.

Kids have to use their imagination, and that’s becoming a little harder to find these days.

I also liked that the pieces are sturdy and designed for younger children. Nothing felt fragile or like it would snap the first time it got tossed into a toy box.

The two sets also work really well together.

One child can run the bakery while another runs the ice cream shop, or one child can take over both businesses and build an entire pretend town in the sandbox.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a toy that’s going to keep kids entertained outside this summer, both of these PLAYMOBIL JUNIOR sets are worth a look.

They’re simple.

They’re easy to use.

They encourage imaginative play.

And most importantly, they give kids another excuse to spend time outdoors instead of staring at a screen.

For toddlers and preschoolers who already love sandboxes, beaches, sensory bins, or water tables, these are likely to be a hit.

Sometimes the best toys are the ones that let kids do the work.

These definitely fit into that category.
