Grandma’s Buttermilk Pie Recipe
Susan is back today with a great recipe! Her Grandma’s Buttermilk Pie!
The other night, I had a hankering for a pie. Well, I think it could have been a cake but, this pie was so easy that….the pie won out. My cousin (in-law) used to always make creamy Buttermilk Pies at Christmas time and they were such a hit with everyone. I went through everything looking for that recipe and after being unsuccessful, I finally settled on one I found and printed off many years ago. Oh, my, my! Oh, heck yes! Honey put on your party dress! I think you will love it.
Grandma’s Buttermilk Pie
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp flour
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/8 cup buttermilk
- 1 deep dish pie crust
Directions:
Beat eggs; add sugar, flour, butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Blend in buttermilk. Pour in pie crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes until it is golden brown and firm.
Hi, my name is Susan and Permanent Posies (Creative Chaos) is my blog and my subject matter is…well, that depends on the day and the mood. But, for the most part, I love cooking, watching the Food Network, reading cookbooks and, of course, eating. I am also an artist and spend time each week in my studio (bedroom) oil painting. I am a mother of four and a grandmother to 5 and that, along with my husband and 2 dogs, take up my most of my time. I am a side-tracked Home Executive and I had the privilege of being a stay –at-home mom so, you might say that my passion is the home and making a haven for those I love.

I love buttermilk pie so much! My grandma always made it, she called it Chess Pie. I found a recipe on allrecipes.com that I always use, but I would love to try yours, because I like the idea off less eggs. Thanks for sharing!!
