Tour Of The Munster Mansion In Waxahachie, TX
Hubby and I had a fun opportunity this week! We got to tour the Munster Mansion in Waxahachie, TX. I told you about their upcoming event earlier this week.
We got a private tour by the Lady of The House with a couple of other local bloggers and it was so fun!
I watched The Munsters growing up and it was a fun, quirky show, so to be able to actual tour this place was so awesome! The owners have spent years and tons of money replicating the house in the show down to very specific details, including the cars and clothing!
We very much enjoyed our tour and got to hear many stories of the actual actors visiting the home and actually spending the night there!
Now, this is not a place that they show year round and live somewhere else… they LIVE here, and show it once a year at this upcoming event! They eat in the kitchen and until she couldn’t stand sleeping in a full size bed anymore, they actually slept in the bedroom modeled after the show (they have since made a bedroom next to that one and added a larger bed.)
She said they have 6 grandkids who come and stay with them and that they all still sleep, even the older ones, at the foot of their bed in the floor rather than in any of the other rooms in the house!
Once you enter the house you see Spot the pet dragon comes out from under the stairs to greet you with shining eyes and fierce roar!
To the right of the stairs you’ll see the coffin phone that comes out of the wall! And as you enter the living room Herman is there to greet you with his laugh!
The living room is complete with the organ!
You can see the harp behind the couch and the electric chair in the corner!
Then as we move into the dining room we see the ever hospitable Lily!
The kitchen is complete with the stove and the huge water heater (remember the actual homeowners eat in this kitchen!).
Then we move upstairs to the Master Bedroom:
This is where we get to see the beautiful collection of Lily’s dresses that The Lady Of The House wears for the event.
We can’t forget about Grandpa and his lab!
We caught a glimpse of the Munster Coach but, the Drag-u-la was under wraps until the party!
There’s more to the mansion including Eddie and Marilyn’s room and so many more things I couldn’t fit in all of the photos! You’ll have to make plans to attend to be able to see it all!
