Walmart Steak: It’s What’s for Dinner!

Steak on the Grill

I told you about Walmart’s new Money Back Guarantee on their steaks they announced a week or two ago and so I thought this would be a good time to take advantage.  Kroger has their New York Strip steaks on sale for $4.77lb which is about half the Walmart price so I grabbed a couple and brought it home to a very excited wife and son. (and dog.) : )

I have a gas grill so all I did to cook it was to rub a little salt, pepper and Mrs. Dash and fire up the grill as hot as I could get it.  I seared them for about a minute on each side then turned it down to low and let it slowly cook for about 10-12 minutes.  In the meantime, I steamed some broccoli and shredded a little cheddar on it.

The moment of truth!  Once the steaks hit the medium well mark I plated them up and we all sat down to enjoy.  They were VERY good and I will not be taking advantage of the Money Back Guarantee.

The last time I posted about their meat guarantee, several of you wrote me with horror stories of times that you bought meat at Walmart and were less than thrilled with the result.  Most of these stories concerned things that happened years ago and I think the purpose of this guarantee is to let us all know that things are different in the Walmart meat department.  Their steak is fresh and high-quality; if you haven’t tried anything from Walmart’s meat case lately, do yourself a favor and pick up a steak or two to try out.  With their Money Back Guarantee, you’ve got nothing to lose!

I think that’s why they are doing this. My steak was really good.

Well then I might try them again (they are typically cheaper). However, the cat was the only animal home with us at the time and was in heaven lol! The dogs were away somewhere…training maybe.
