Why Do I Do It?

in Great Deals on 04/27/10

QuestionsFrom time to time, someone will ask me why I do what I do.  Why I run this site, why I shop the way I do, why I buy as much as I buy (can you really call it “buying” when it’s almost always FREE?)  Well, here’s one reason, one of the main reasons:

Dian,

Earth Day has been terrific for freebies – I took the whole family to Target and we each bought stuff separately to get multiple bags.  We also got some free bags Babies R Us (and a discount on a baby present at the same time!)  And the kids were thrilled to get the free hats at Disney.

I do want to tell you that your site, which is the first one I discovered when I started really trying to focus on saving grocery money by couponing, is amazing and has really helped me save loads.  I probably could save more by going to more stores each week for more deals (Walgreens and CVS both, for example) but as a working mom with a ridiculous commute on teaching days I can’t always manage too many stores. But I am now going regularly to SuperTarget as well as Publix for groceries and that really helps me save as well!  So….. THANKS!!!  As my kids would say, YOU ROCK!

hi Dian,

Well, thanks in part to your site, and to the links you’ve given to other sites that list Publix match ups and deals,I finally broke 50% savings!

On my shopping trip to Publix today, I spent about $57 and saved about  $77!  I actually saved $20 MORE than I spent!  You should have seen the cashier’s face!  My nine-year-old and I were high-fiving each other all the way to the car!

The best deal was on the Edwards frozen singles – they were BOGO plus I had four $1/1 coupons – so instead of $2.99 each, they were only 49c each!  And we get a wonderful dessert treat later this week.

Isn’t couponing FUN?!

Ellen

Grocery ShoppingIf  I can help someone by showing them what I have learned, it thrills me!  Why would anyone pay MORE for something than they have to, it makes me upset when I think about it.  Sometimes I have to hold myself back in the line at the store when I see someone is about to pay $2.50 OR MORE for toothpaste!  I have soooo much toothpaste, and it was all FREE!  I just want to help people who need and want it.

I have been in line at the store when people are having trouble paying, how freeing it would be for them to be able to get even more for less!  At times I see people at the store trying to figure out which product to buy and I LOVE being able to hand them a coupon for the product they are looking at, sometimes they don’t even know the the store they are shopping at and shop at the most doubles and triples coupons!!

Also, I want to help people who don’t even know about how they can save, or can’t do it themselves.  I take things to the shelters in my town and that makes me feel great, too.  The people who run the shelters use coupons to help buy supplies.  Most of the samples I get, I don’t use, I take them to the shelter.  When there is something that will be FREE or almostHomeless ShelterFREE, I buy it even if I won’t use it, I give it away.  I take it to the shelter, it’s a great way to teach your kids to be charitable too.  If they participate it sinks in more than just being told.

So, thank you all for reading and being faithful to this site!  You guys make my day!  You guys are the reason I do what I do!  Thank you so much!!

@Isabela: Thank you for your kind words. I try to explain everything as simply as I can – my Mom says if she can draw me a picture I can get it! lol So, that’s what I guess I am doing for y’all! I do really enjoy doing it all! I also enjoy knowing that it is really helping you! Thank you for taking the time to let me know it helps!
