Nothing beats the good feeling of coming home from a long tiring day. But, this feeling could be altered by stress when a dirty and messy home welcomes you. Of course, you wouldn’t want that to happen. That’s why regular cleaning is a must.

However, cleaning takes up a lot of time, and no busy person wants to spend their free time doing it. Most of us would rather spend time relaxing on weekends. Luckily, there are ways to keep your home clean while not consuming all your time.

How to Clean Your Home in 30 Minutes or Less

Cleaning is not easy for everyone, and it’s not something we should avoid either. If you’re a busy person, and/or hate to clean, here are several ways to speed clean in 30 minutes or less.

Let’s dig in!

Get Prepared

Start with a Plan

Before you start cleaning, create a plan of attack. Make a list of the rooms that need to be cleaned and prioritize them based on their level of dirtiness.

This will help you focus on the areas that need the most attention and save time.

Gather Your Cleaning Tools

Looking around for your tools while cleaning consumes lots of time. So before you start cleaning, find and arrange all the cleaning tools in one space or container.

That way, you can easily find them while you’re cleaning, saving you time.

Declutter

Decluttering is an essential part of cleaning your home. Before you start cleaning, take a few minutes to tidy up and remove any clutter from any surfaces. This will make it easier to clean and give your home a more organized look.

Remove the trash scattered on the floors or tables, and keep the tables and surfaces free of:

  • keys
  • mail
  • newspapers
  • magazines
  • cups and glasses
  • toys
  • so forth

Your surface spaces will feel larger and brighter after decluttering, even though you didn’t thoroughly clean them.

Use a Cleaning Caddy

A cleaning caddy is a great way to stay organized and save time. Fill it with all the cleaning supplies you need and carry it from room to room.

That way, you won’t have to go back and forth to get supplies.

Use Multi-Purpose Cleaners

Using multi-purpose cleaners can save you time and money. Look for cleaners that can be used on multiple surfaces, such as:

  • floors
  • countertops
  • appliances

That way, you don’t have to switch between different cleaners and waste time or spend unnecessary money on a ton of cleaners.

You can also make your own household cleaners to save even more time ad money.

Clean from Top to Bottom

Start at the top and work your way down. This will keep dirt and dust from falling onto areas you’ve already cleaned.

Start with the ceiling fans, light fixtures, and upper shelves before moving onto the lower areas.

Clean in a Circular Motion

Cleaning in a circular motion is more efficient than going back and forth. This method makes sure that you cover every inch of the surface and prevents you from missing any spots.

Use a circular motion when wiping down countertops, appliances, and other surfaces.

Use a Timer

Set a timer for 30 minutes and challenge yourself to clean your home within that time frame. This will help you stay focused and avoid getting distracted.

It’s also a fun way to turn cleaning into a game and see how much you can get done in that time.

Enlist Help

Cleaning your home doesn’t have to be a solo task. Enlist the help of your family members or roommates and divide up the tasks.

Not only will this save you time but also make the cleaning process more enjoyable.

Put Everything in the Right Places

While decluttering, you also want to put everything in its right spot. Like putting dishes in the sink, tucking in your bedsheets, organizing toys, and everything that’s not in its right place.

Now We Start

Now that we have everything, have moved everything out of the way, and set ourselves up for success, it’s time to get started.

Set the timer, and GO…

Do A Quick Dust

The next thing you should do is quickly dust. You’ll need a feather duster here.

Shake your duster and move quickly to remove visible dust.

Wipe

After doing a quick dust, wipe everything down with a microfiber cloth. Wipe your tables and countertops.

This will be easy when you regularly clean sinks and counters. You can also use disinfecting wipes to clean quickly.

Clean the Floor

Cleaning your floor doesn’t mean grabbing a mop and deep cleaning it. Eliminating the trash and debris from your floor can help a lot.

Ensure the trash is in the trash, then vacuum your floors to remove the dust. It will immediately make your home much cleaner.

Light Scented Candles

Of course, the scent is everything. A fresh aroma makes a place feel inviting and comfortable. Even if there is a bit of clutter, try lighting a candle or turning on a diffuser to freshen up your room.

A perfuming spray can help as well. They may not be long-lasting, but they’ll make you feel better.

Reward Yourself

Once you’ve finished cleaning your home, take a few minutes to reward yourself. This can be something as simple as enjoying a cup of tea or taking a relaxing bath.

Rewarding yourself will help you stay motivated and make cleaning a more enjoyable experience.

For a Comfy Home

The secret to an always clean home is to clean regularly. It doesn’t mean that you should get a deep clean every day. Try to do a quick clean daily, so you won’t have to deal with a dirty house on weekends.

With these tips and tricks, you can clean your home in 30 minutes or less. Remember to start with a plan, declutter first, and use multi-purpose cleaners.

Clean from top to bottom, use a circular motion, and set a timer to stay focused. Enlist help, use a cleaning caddy, and reward yourself once you’ve finished cleaning.
