Dian and I were invited to the new MiniLuxe Salon in Dallas to have a little spa day. I never really know how to respond to these things because Dian won’t ever go by herself, I don’t really care too much about getting my nails done, I certainly don’t need anything waxed but I also don’t want to just stare at a wall for an hour. So I decided to take them up on their offer of a pedicure.
I’m glad I did it because it was a really fantastic experience and I got to take a tour of the facilities. It never occurred to me how much work goes into making sure your treatments are done in as sterile an environment as possible. Let me take you on a virtual tour and at the end I’ll tell you how you can when a :fr: Manicure and Pedicure for yourself.
This was the heart and soul of the operation. Every single reusable instrument was hand washed, placed in an autoclave for sterilization and then placed into some other machine that further sterilized the utensils and packaged them so they remained sterile until reopened. This place takes cleanliness VERY seriously. In fact most of the utensils they used like files and buffers were one-time use so they could be thrown away or given to the client upon completion.
These are automatic no-touch nail dryers. just put your hands under them and they automagically turn on. I didn’t get a shot of them but there are also these dryer units on the floor for your feet. No more messing up your nails by hitting them on the dryer!
Time for my pedicure. The thought of someone messing with my feet made me a little nervous. In fact I just had visions of the Dumb & Dumber pedicure running through my head.
Ok, it wasn’t quite that bad but it did tickle a bit. The CEO brought me over some hot water and my choice of tea bags. I think she wanted to keep me distracted. 
And now my feet are as smooth as a baby’s booty. I’m actually very glad I decided to do it, I kind of got to see first hand a little of what goes in to making my wife so beautiful. Not that she needs a pedicure to be beautiful.
