in Instagram on 10/28/24

Looking for inspiration for DIY holiday decorations? If you’re looking to decorate your home for the holidays but you’re short on time and money, we’ve got you covered.

It’s so important to create a fun atmosphere during the holiday season, but buying new decorations can be expensive.

Stretching your holiday budget? The Holiday Savings Challenge will help you cut costs and keep cash in your pocket.

Holiday decorations

That’s why we’ve come up with these DIY ideas that use items you most likely already have. These projects are quick, easy, and budget-friendly, and you’re done you’ll have a beautifully decorated space without breaking the bank.

Get creative this holiday season with these fun DIY decoration ideas that use things you probably already have:

Jar Lanterns:

Get festive with these budget-friendly holiday decoration ideas using common household items from our latest blog post.

Transform old mason jars into holiday lanterns by filling them with candles, fairy lights, or pinecones. Add a holiday touch by tying a ribbon or twine around the rim and add a small piece of evergreen or holly.

These lanterns make beautiful centerpieces or they look great on windowsills, too, to create a warm, inviting glow.

Paper Snowflakes:

Create a cozy atmosphere in your home with these easy DIY holiday decor tips shared in our recent blog post.

Use printer paper or scrap paper to make snowflakes to hang in your windows or on walls. Get the family involved in cutting out different shapes and sizes to create a beautiful holiday scene.

You can also spray a light layer of glitter or add some paint to make them sparkle.

Garland from Nature:

Go outside and find some pine branches, berries, and then grab some twine to create a beautiful natural garland. String the branches and berries together using twine or fishing line, and drape it over your mantel, doorway, or staircase.

You can also add dried orange slices or cinnamon sticks for a nice holiday fragrance and look.

Are You Prepared For The Holidays?

Ornament Display:

glass bottles filled with ornaments
This is one of my favorite fun and simple DIY holiday crafts you can try this season using materials you already have at home.

Use empty glass bottles or bowls and display old ornaments in them for a fun, decorative centerpiece. Arrange the ornaments by color to create a theme, or mix and match – it’s up to you!.

You can also add some greenery or fairy lights to make it more eye-catching.

Pinecone Wreath:

Turn everyday items into beautifully upcycled holiday decorations with these ideas.

Gather pinecones from your yard or a nearby park to make a holiday wreath. Attach the pinecones to a wire frame or some sturdy cardboard cut into a circle (I mean who doesn’t have unlimited Amazon boxes laying around?!), using hot glue.

You can spray paint the pinecones in holiday colors like gold, silver, or white, or leave them natural for a classic look.

Add a bow at the top to finish it off.

Holiday Candle Holders:

Use empty tin cans or glass jars to make holiday-themed candle holders. Clean the containers thoroughly, then decorate them with paint, ribbons, or even wrap them in burlap.

Add a tealight or small candle inside, and use them on your holiday table or mantel.

Create a table runner using brown Kraft paper. Roll out the paper down the length of your table and decorate it with hand-drawn art, messages, or pressed leaves and flowers. So fun for the whole family.

You can even et your guests add their touches to it!

This simple project adds a personal touch to your holiday dinners and can be easily recycled afterward.

Upcycled Sweater Stockings:

Repurpose old sweaters by turning them into cozy holiday stockings. Cut out the shape of a stocking from the sweater fabric, sew the edges together, and add a loop for hanging.

You can personalize them with fabric paint or patches to make them unique for each family member.

These simple, budget-friendly ideas will add a touch of holiday magic to your home without breaking the bank! Get the whole family involved for a fun DIY decorating session.
