How Long Do You Have Return an Item?

The time limit for returns according to the JCPenney return policy is as follows: You may return an item within 60 days of purchase.

Purchases made in store or at jcp.com are eligible for a return or exchange with a receipt within 60 days of the original purchase date.

Can I Get A Refund On An Online Purchase?

Yes, you can get a refund even if your purchase was online. The same policy apples – the item needs to be returned with in the 60 day return window, and the refund will be issued in-store or by mail.

JCPenney’s Online Return Policy:

Items purchased at JCP.com are eligible for a return with a receipt within 60 days of the original purchase date. Refunds will be issued on the original form of payment or JCPenney Gift Card. Orders purchased with PayPal will be refunded as cash when the customer is present at the point of return or as a check to the customer’s billing address when the customer is not present. Some Exclusions Apply.

A receipt for your jcp.com order could include:

  • Receipt received at pick up in-store
  • Order confirmation email
  • Order details within your Shopping History (if signed into JCP account)
  • Packing slip shipped with package

Merchandise sold exclusively on JCP.com may have certain exclusions that apply. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable unless the merchandise is delivered was the wrong item, is damaged, defective or was shipped to a location other than the shipping address that was provided when ordered. Manufacturers’ warranties may apply in certain situations.

How Do I Return A JCP.com Order?

You can go to your nearest JCP store and return it there or you can mail it back. If you choose to mail it back there is a fee.

At a JCPenney store: Bring your order to one of our JCPenney stores. This is the quickest way to return most merchandise and receive a refund or store credit. Some exclusions apply. To return furniture/mattress items, call customer care at 1.800.442.7902.

Online Returns by Mail: Simply log in to your account and select the order with the item(s) you want to return. Click the “Start a Return” button and follow the prompts. If you do not have a JCPenney account, click this link to view your order and start a return. There is return fee that will be subtracted from your refund amount. Credits can take up to 4 weeks based on shipping and processing time.

  • Why does it cost $8 to ship my return back to JCPenney?
    UPS will ship your order back to JCPenney for the flat $8 fee. This has been significantly discounted and will cover your entire return from a single order.
  • Do we offer free returns at my local JCPenney store?
    Yes, visit our store and your returns are ALWAYS free. Plus, we’ll process your return for items under $8. Maybe you’ll find something else to love!

Yes, there are items that JCPenney doesn’t offer a rfund on. Here is a l;ist of those items:

When Do You Receive a Refund on a Return?

It can definitely be annoying that we have to pay at time of purchase but to get our money back where they took it from can take an extended period of time, or is it just me?… lol

If you made a purchase from JCP with a store credit card you can expect refunds to a JCPenney Credit Card typically take 3- 4 days to post to your account from the day they receive the items back.

If you made your purchase with a bank card or debit card you’ll need to contact your financial institution for information about refunds to a third party credit card. Typically, though, it takes 7-10 days to post to your account from the day the day they receive the items back.

What Happens To My Rewards Points If I Return An Item?

If you return and item – you lose the points you got from the purchase.

If you return or cancel a qualifying purchase, the points you received for that purchase will be deducted from your JCPenney Rewards account in the month the return is made.

Sephora Return Policy

Sephora products have return policies that differ from JCP stores as Sephora is an actual store within a store.

At a JCPenney store:
Bring your order to one of our JCPenney stores. This is the quickest and easiest way toreturn merchandise and receive a refund or store credit. To return furniture items, call customer care at 1.800.442.7902.
By mail:
Complete the “returns or exchange” form on the invoice and return it with the item. If you do not have the invoice, please enclose your name, address, phone number, and the approximate date of purchase with the item and mail it to the JCP.com facility nearest you. Customers are responsible for the return postage.

What If I Don’t Have A Receipt?

Some items may still be accepted for return even if you don’t have a receipt. However you won’t receive cash back on those items.

Returns without a receipt may be eligible for a JCPenney Merchandise Return Voucher at the item’s lowest selling price within the last 45 days. Some Exclusions Apply.

Valid photo identification is required for all non-receipted returns or exchanges. Information from the ID will be retained in a secured company-wide database to monitor the number of un-receipted returns. JCPenney accepts the following IDs for returns: U.S., Puerto Rican, Canadian and Mexican Driver’s License; U.S. State IDs; Puerto Rican IDs; Canadian Province IDs; U.S. Military IDs; U.S. Laser Visa; Passports; Matrícula Consular Card; Puerto Rican Voter Identification Card, and Mexican Voter Registration Card. JCPenney reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges with or without a valid receipt.

For purchases and returns made in the states of CT and MA: Customers must return any purchase within 60 days of the purchase date to receive a refund of the sales tax. Returns made after 60 days of the purchase date will receive the refund of the purchase price excluding the sales tax.

There are no specific JCPenney return policy mentions for shoe purchases. They will treat it the same as other returns.
