Make a Great Meal in No Time with Minute Rice!

Cooking can be time consuming.  Don’t get me wrong, it is often time well spent as I usually enjoy making something for my wife and I to share.  However, sometimes wifey isn’t at home and I want to spend as little time as possible in the kitchen so I can get back to that important ball game I’m probably watching.  That’s why I always keep some Minute® Ready to Serve Rice handy to whip up a great meal.

First thing’s first, head to your local grocery store and find Minute Ready to Serve rice on the rice aisle.  The Ready to Serve cups are awesome because the rice is cooked and ready in a flash.  Just pull back the top and microwave for 60 seconds for perfectly cooked rice, you don’t even need to add anything and can eat it straight out of the cup!  Plus, the cup make it easy to control your portion size as it is already pre-measured for you.  That makes it a perfect option for a quick snack if you are on the go.

There are several different varieties to choose from Whole Grain options of Brown Rice, Brown & Wild Rice, Multi-Grain Medley, and all new Rice Brown & Quinoa. Also all new Basmati Rice, Jasmine Rice, White Rice and flavorful mixes. Several varieties are gluten-free, too.  This makes the Minute rice very versatile and easy to make a quick meal out of just by adding a protein or a few veggies or sauce.

What I decided to do was a variation on an old campfire stirfry I used to make when camping.  It’s super simple and very tasty.  All you need to do is to take about 8 oz of chicken breast and cut it up into bite size pieces and place in skillet with about 2 Tbsp of soy sauce.  Stir the chicken to cook on all sides and after a few minutes when the chicken is about halfway cooked, pour in a can of peas and a can of corn. (Drained, of course)  Then put the Minute rice in the microwave for a minute to cook and stir the meat and veggies to warm up.  Once the rice is ready, pour it into the skillet and keep stirring until the chicken is finished cooking and the veggies are hot.  That’s it!  Like I said, super simple and it tastes awesome.

I never claimed to be the greatest chef in the world but this is definitely the kind of food I grew up eating when Dad was doing the cooking.  If you would like to check out a few other recipes, take a look at the Minute Rice website with awesome recipes and some other goodies for you to check out.
