I love a good no-sew project don’t you?! This no-sew Christmas throw pillow (from a placemat!) is simple, fun and inexpensive!
The idea was actually a friend’s idea. When she explained that the pillow was made from a $3.99 Target placemat, I was blown away!
I immediately ran to my local Target and snatch up one of their cute NOEL placemats. Target always has a nice selection of pretty placemats!
DIY No Sew Holiday Pillow
1) gather your supplies:
- enough poly-fil to stuff your pillow
- hot glue gun
- one double-layer fabric placemat (it must be the kind that has two fabrics top-stitched together, like the ones they sell at Target)
2) use a seam-ripper to open a small area at the bottom of your pillow
3) fill the insides of the placemat with poly-fil 4) close the opening with a line of hot glue
I ended up using the hot glue, after being unsuccessful with heat-bond.
How in the world does that stuff work?!
I followed the instructions, but I couldn’t get the fabric to bond.
The hot glue worked great, though!
Of course, you could also stitch the opening closed, but then it wouldn’t a no-sew pillow, would it?! 🙂
I think the pillow turned out so cute!
And, the colors are so fun and fresh. I just love the NOEL design!

That is an awesome idea. I got 4 of these exact place mats for .19 with a target $3 off coupon. Cheap and cute. Thanks.
