Walmart Online Price Match Finally Updated

Walmart Just Updated Their Online Price Matching Policies!

Youtube video

Walmart has finally updated their Online Price Match Policy to deal with all those crazy penny deals and $50 PS4s that so many people were getting.  We will go through all the changes below but first, let me just say how happy I am to see this.  It was getting pretty crazy out there and I’m glad that Walmart saw the issue and put a stop to it.  Now here’s what’s different.

UPDATE: Walmart has released an official press release concerning these changes.  I have included it below.

No More 3rd Party Sellers

Here’s the actual text from the policy.

We do not honor:

  • Prices from marketplace and third-party sellers.

So all those penny deals and scam deals and crazy discounts on electronics are done.  Thank Goodness.

New Limits on How Many You Can Buy

Here is the actual text from the policy.

  • We will limit quantities to one-per-customer, per item, per day**

So only one like item per day, per customer.  Unfortunately all the fallout from this mess is now we are limited on how much we can buy.  That’s unfortunate but I guess it’s still fair.

New Limits on Where We Can Price Match From

Here’s the actual text from the policy

Online retailers are limited to: Academy.com, Amazon.com, Autozone.com, Babiesrus.com, Basspro.com, Bedbathandbeyond.com, Bestbuy.com, Cabelas.com, Dickssportinggoods.com, Dollargeneral.com, Familydollar.com, Homedepot.com, Jcpenny.com, Kmart.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, Michaels.com, Newegg.com, Officedepot.com, Oreillyauto.com, Pepboys.com, Petco.com, Petsmart.com, Sears.com, SportsAuthority.com, Staples.com, Target.com, Tigerdirect.com, Toysrus.com, Walgreens.com, Walmart.com

Where before we weren’t limited to just these sites, now we are.  I’m guessing some people were using some crazy scam sites to get Walmart to price match crazy deals.

I think this will be a positive change and ensure that everyone is getting good, but fair, prices on what they want to buy.  You can also check out this FAQ post we put together with all your Online Price Matching Questions.

What do you think about this change?  I’d love to know in the comments!

UPDATE: Here is the new Press Release

Statement:

“We launched online price matching because it’s the right thing for our customers. It’s making a meaningful difference for people who want to feel confident they’re getting great prices, and we’re committed to matching online prices going forward.

“At the same time, we can’t tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers. This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value. With this in mind, we’ve updated our policy to clarify that we will match prices from Walmart.com and 30 major online retailers, but we won’t honor prices from marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites or sites requiring memberships.

“We will continue to listen to feedback from our customers and our cashiers to make sure our online price match policy is working. Customers with questions can read the updated policy by searching ‘online price match’ at Walmart.com.”
