We are expanding the Grocery Shop for :fr: team! So let me tell you a story.
A Problem Presents Itself
I spent last week painting my 95 year old great-aunt’s house. (Did you know I do home repair and remodeling? Give me a call if you are in the DFW Metroplex) One if the guys that works with me was ribbing me a little about seeing me on TV and calling me Mr Walmart. Then his wife came over and started talking to me and told me a very interesting tale.
She is Hispanic and her English is good enough to get by but she is much more comfortable in Spanish. She has been trying to coupon and price match but she doesn’t know a whole lot and it’s difficult for her to learn when all the blogs are in English.
Inspiration Strikes
I thought about that for the rest of the day. Clearly this was an underserved market full of people that want and need to learn how to save money on their groceries. Our mission here at Grocery Shop for :fr: is to help people save on their groceries so this was a clear overlap of need and mission but how do I do it? I don’t speak Spanish and Google Translate is sketchy at best.
Enter the Beautiful and Talented (And Hispanic) Nathali
Turns out, not only do I know someone who speaks Spanish but I also taught her how to coupon. (And be “me”, I mean mostly Dian…so not me) Her husband grew up in the youth group I led oh so many years ago and I got to officiate her wedding. (Besides my kids and Marriage, getting to officiate her Marriage and the Marriage of one of my sons are the highlights of my life) (Dian just reminded me that I also married my daughter and SIL…whoops!)
We discussed what the life of a Blogger looks like (long hours, little pay, etc) and she is onboard. So without further ado, allow me to introduce to you, Surtir el Mandado Gratis, a Spanish language extension of the Grocery Shop for :fr: universe! (Cue trumpets and confetti!)
It’s still in the beginning stages but we are very excited about what is to come. Not only will you be getting the hottest online and grocery store deals but soon we will be doing classes and other training en Espanol so even more people will be able to learn how to coupon and save money.
