It’s no surprise that Target is a regular shopping destination of a lot of people. With more than 1,800 stores throughout the United States, when it comes to something you need, you can bet Target has it.

As a regular Target shopper, you can benefit from great deals, top-of-the-line discounts, and even exclusive perks with the Target RedCard Debit and Target RedCard Credit cards.

The Target RedCard can be used as a debit or credit card to pay for your purchases.

While some store credit and debit cards may not be worth applying for because of their high interest rates and lower rewards, the RedCard is not your typical card.

Instead of the usual rewards system, card holders can get an automatic 5% cashback on all purchases made through Target stores or Target.com.

How Does It Work?

There are two options with the Target RedCard: Users can apply for either a credit or a debit card.

The Target credit card, like the usual credit cards in the market, will be listed on your credit report. Meanwhile, the debit card version is linked to your checking account and once you make your purchase, it will be debited from your account just like a regular debit card (it may take 3-5 days to appear).

How Can You Get One?

You can apply for either a debit or a Target Mastercard from a local Target store or online.

If you choose to get the debit card option in-store, you’ll be asked to provide a voided, blank check for your application to be processed.

Can You Use Your RedCard To Get Cash?

The credit card doesn’t have any cash withdrawal feature. For the Target RedCard debit card, you can take out $40 in cash every 24 hours.

What Are The Requirements For The Credit Card?

The credit eligibility and requirements to get a Target RedCard credit card varies. Like other financial institutions, the company does a credit check and looks into your outstanding debt, your income, and your credit history when deciding if your application will be approved.

Since the card is listed on your credit report, by using it and making timely payments, it can also help you build your credit score.

How Does The Target RedCard Work: Is It Worth It?

That totally depends on your needs. If you’re looking into getting either a RedCard debit or credit card or for frequent Target shoppers, here are some of the advantages and exclusive extras you can enjoy:

Get 5% Discount on Eligible Purchases

You can get 5% discount at checkout when you buy eligible items in-store or from your online purchases.

This discount can be a big game changer if you’re purchasing higher value items like furniture or electronics like DSLR cameras, Xbox Consoles, or Android and Apple products.

Although you won’t earn rewards like other cashback or store credit cards, the ease of this discount is a big plus as it will be applied automatically during purchase. No need to deal with redeeming your rewards later or wait for it to be deposited to your account.

Free Two-Day Standard Shipping

Red Card holders are also eligible for a free 2-day shipping on your online orders from Target.com. But take note that this free shipping eligibility still depends on your location.

Take Advantage of Extended Returns

Target RedCard holders receive 30 additional days for returns and exchanges beyond the standard 90-day return policy.

However, this doesn’t apply to non-returnable items, mobile contracts, and Target optical purchases.

No Annual Fee

Unlike other store cards and debit and credit cards available, you don’t need to pay any annual fee with the Target RedCard.

Receive Additional Savings

You can receive additional savings on select Target purchases using your RedCard.

These savings include discounts at partner merchants and exclusive and early access to limited edition items and limited-time designer partnerships merchandise.

You can also connect your card to your Target app to unlock special offers that are available in-store and online.
