Homes can get a little disorganized sometimes (I think that may be an understatement, but let’s move on, lol), and that’s perfectly normal.

In today’s world, life gets a little crazy busy, and cleaning can be too much work. But you know it’s still important to keep your home clean because it only gets worse… lol.

No one wants to live in chaos, so it’s a good idea to keep everything as clutter-free as possible.

Today, I have some home organizing tips for you to do in your free time.

A clean and organized home.
A clean and organized home can alleviate stress.

Organizing Made Easy: Practical Strategies for a Clutter-Free Home

A lot of times, organizing can be daunting without a system. Knowing the best tips to stay organized goes a long way; this can help you keep the entire house organized. Today, I’ll talk about the best ways you can have a clutter-free home.

Set Your Decluttering Goal

The first step of home organization starts with planning. Starting every project with a plan can give you a sense of direction. Using all the decluttering tips that work for you will make things easier and go faster,

You can start with the:

  • bathroom
  • laundry room
  • bedroom
  • closet
  • clothing

And gradually move to the:

  • kitchen
  • living room
  • family room

If it gets overwhelming, you can spend five minutes in specific areas as part of your daily routine. Start on an easy task and build momentum. It can also help to tackle a small room before a larger area that needs more work.

Having a place for everything and everything in its place can make for a much more peaceful environment for the entire family.

Take Progress Photos

After setting up your decluttering process, you can take a before photo of each area in your home. Taking before and after photos is a great way to see your progress and help encourage you to stay organized.

They’re also great for kids’ chores to help them remember how everything is supposed to look.

Sort by Doing the 12-12-12 Challenge and Four-Box Method

Organizing might be tricky when you have a lot of stuff in a small space. You can start decluttering by sorting. The 12-12-12 challenge is picking 12 items to throw away or sell for extra money, 12 to donate, and 12 to return to their designated place.

Ideally, you can keep 12 sentimental items maximum. Doing the four-box method can also help you organize. Use four boxes and label them each: trash, donate, keep, or recycle.

Use a Decluttering Checklist

Another helpful organizing tip is using a to-do list. Listing the rooms and tasks you need to get done keeps you on track.

Prioritize a small room or a small area, like a linen closet, to not be overwhelmed. This checklist can help you save valuable time.

Be Creative With Storage

Almost all storage areas, like kitchen drawers, sometimes contain random junk. Multipurpose storage space goes a long way when you don’t have enough space.

Instead of typical storage, like drawers and cabinets, use storage that doubles as a practical solution to the room. Take advantage of the vertical space in your home, too.
