Great Shopping Trip!

in Great Deals on 01/07/10

April, one of my faithful, longtime readers wanted to share her recent shopping trip with you!  She didn’t get pics, she had a 3 hour drive in the snow that would normally only have taken 45 minutes!  So, she didn’t get any pics.

Well Dian,
I followed your deals for Walmart and Target and Walgreens with my own little twist. First off I gathered the ads from my local country mart, Shop n’ Save and Schnucks grocery stores. I then gathered my coupons and instead of shopping at every place I did price matching at Walmart. It took me about 20 minutes to check out but it was so very worth it.
I spent $98 at Walmart and there were only 5 or 6 items that I didn’t have a coupon for and I cashed in $43.12 in coupons. I also went to Shop n’ Save because they had Special K on sale 4/$8 and free Special K cereal bars box with purchase of 4 boxes of cereal so I saved $3 there.
I also saved $3 with coupons at Steak N’ Shake for lunch. I could not find any of the Target deals and had to get a raincheck for the Walgreens Ester C but I will go back next week.
I got quite a few FREE things and I am so very happy. Also, I have to share with you and all your readers. CLIP EVERY COUPON! Even if you don’t ever think you will use it.  I wanted to take advantage of the Snuggle offer at Walmart and found that I did not clip the Snuggle coupons from 12/6 because I use the Dollar General store brand.  Luckily I went out to the recycle paper can on my porch which had not been emptied yet and dug out coupons from 12/6 and was able to get two boxes FREE. I learned my lesson and I won’t do that again.
So my total savings today was $49.12 which was great because we had to buy a new battery for the minivan at a cost of $82. Ugh! Anyway, that’s my story.
God bless everyone and let’s save our way out of this recession!
April

Great  job, April!  Everyone remember to send in your shopping trips and savings with pics so everyone can be encouraged!
