Let’s start!

What is Organic Food?

Organic food is produced without:

  • chemicals
  • artificial fertilizers

Organic Food: is it Safer or More Nutritious?

There’s actually limited scientific evidence to determine if organic foods have more nutritional value than non-organic foods.

Farmed organically or not, the products below are all nutritious:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Grains
  • Beans
  • Eggs
  • Fatty meats
  • Dairy

But one thing is for sure, organic or natural foods taste better and are much safer.

In recent studies:

  • organic fruits
  • organic crops
  • organic meat
  • organic milk
  • any food with organic ingredients

have been proven to taste better than non-organic produce foods. It’s believed to be due to the fact that they’re produced with fewer pesticides and antibiotics.

Organic Food: Is it Wallet Friendly?

Generally, organic products are more expensive than non-organic food.

Organic farming often needs more labor and produces lower yields than conventional farming.

Which comes back to growing what you can yourself. You can grow in containers on a patio, you can grow herbs and some veggies indoors with a hydroponic system. Microgreens are super simple to grow indoors.

What is Non-Organic?

Non-organic or conventional food is typically farmed using chemicals like synthetic fertilizers. These synthetic pesticides prevent food waste by keeping pests at bay while increasing food production to ensure a sufficient supply.

Non-organic foods have a longer shelf life because of the use of certain chemicals. So, when it comes to stocking up, non-organic foods will most likely be easier on your wallet.

Luckily, both organic and non-organic foods usually have the same nutrients and could pose the same health risks. Meats, whether organic or not, are equally susceptible to bacterial contamination. The only difference between the two is their farming process.

However, if you buy non-organic food, choose the ones with fewer pesticides to be safe.

Non-Organic Food: is it Wallet Friendly?

Compared to organic food with high costs, non-organic foods are wallet-friendly. This is because non-organic are conventional produce, which is less costly than the production of organic food.

But, non-organic has much more environmental impact than organic because of the use of pesticides.

So, if you’re an environmentalist or simply want a good future for the environment, you should choose organic produce foods.

Truly, choosing between the two is hard, but if saving money is your priority, non-organic is the best option since organic food typically has higher costs.
