But if you think the prices at Walmart are already good, you might be surprised that they can be even better and at an even lower price!

If you want to save more money the next time you visit, use these 7 secrets for shopping at Walmart. You’ll be surprised how much more you can save!

How to Save Money at Lowe’s

1. Shop Early

Most Walmart shoppers buy baked goods and day-old bread during the earlier part of the day. When these food items are not sold, they get marked down to a clearance price for consumers who shop later in the day.

But did you know that you can get the best deals for other items, too, like meat and other perishable goods because they also get marked down near their sell-by dates? Just be sure to check the price tag for the yellow clearance sticker.

Start shopping at one of your local Walmarts in the morning to grab these discounted Walmart deals. You can even ask your store’s butcher when they mark down the meat so you can shop on that particular day always to get the lowest price.

2. Master The Price Tags

Are you guilty of buying an item just because it’s on sale or it looks like a good deal?

Everyone does!

But the next time you want to grab that new toaster oven or set of cutlery set, it will save you money if you master the game of price tags.

If the price ends in 7, like $4.87, it means that it’s still at its original price. Items ending in a 5 have been discounted once, while items ending with a 1 or 0 means they are in their final markdown.

If you can wait until they hit that 1 or 0 you know you’re getting the very best deal. This the easiest way to know if you’re getting the best deal.

3. Choose Wisely

Did you know that you can get deeper discounts if you check out seasonal produce?

At the right time of year you can often get deep discounts on fresh in season produce. Out of season produce will always cost more and it won’t look as lush and healthy as in season, too.

4. Don’t Forget The Rebate

To receive cash back on your purchases while you shop at Walmart, make sure to download and sign up for a free Ibotta account.

Once you sign up, all you have to do is to take a picture of your receipt after you shop then upload it through the app. Ibotta will then reward you with cash back that you can use the next time you shop.

5. Shop Refurbished Or Open Box Items

If you are shopping for gadgets and appliances and you don’t want to blow all your money, try getting a refurbished item instead.

Refurbished products come with a manufacturer’s warranty to give you peace of mind.

A brand new iPad can run over $500 while a refurbished one can often be found for $300. That’s huge savings!

6. Shop The Best Time For Clearance

You might think that you’re already saving money by buying items on clearance and hitting all the clearance sales. But did you know that you can save even more by knowing the best times to buy?

Clearance deals vary by store. However, the best times to stock up on clearance items and hunt for those markdown items is during the following months:

February – March:

  • Boots
  • Coats
  • Winter Clothes

Late August – September:

  • Swim Suits
  • Summer Decor
  • Pool Toys
  • School Supplies
  • Outdoor Supplies

Late October – Early November:

  • Summer Clothing
  • Summer Footwear
  • Fall Decor
  • Light Coats and Jackets

7. Use Coupons

This is probably the easiest technique that a lot of people are taking for granted: You can use online printed or clipped coupons from the Sunday paper to take a few dollars off your total purchase!

8. Generic Brands Are Not Always Your Friend

When deal hunting a good tip tis to keep in mind that Walmart’s store-brand items are as high quality as name brands yet they are as cheap as generic brands.

Try and get items like paper towels and toilet paper. Walmart’s Great Value chicken sausages, cinnamon crunch, cookies, and even detergents are as good as the well known brands.

Plus, if you have a gluten allergy or intolerance, purchasing groceries can be quite expensive. The good news is that a lot of Walmart’s Great Value brands are gluten-free so they can cater to your diet, yet they’re affordable.

9. Always Get Free Shipping

Paying shipping fees might eat up all the savings you get from shopping at Walmart.

But did you know that there are two ways you can get free delivery?

The first one is if you spend an order minimum of $50 or more online, they’ll ship all your purchases for free!

You can also opt to have your online purchases shipped to a local store for free. Often you can pick them up the same day you order them online.

If you want to get your items from your local Walmart store, make sure to look for items marked “pickup discount eligible”, to receive extra savings.

10. Learn How To Find The Hidden Deals

Did you know that there are hidden great deals that you can uncover using a one keyword search at Walmart.com or the Walmart app?

View every clearance item and hidden clearance items not just in the clearance section but available in all the Walmart stores by typing in “clearance” in the search bar. Change the zip code to narrow it down to your local stores and find out what’s on sale right where you shop.

You can find every on-sale item listed on your screen. It’s that easy. this way you will always get the everyday low price.

11. Know When To Shop Holidays

A few days after a major holiday, a lot of the holiday items are automatically marked down and at steep discounts.

If you’re looking for insanely cheap deals on decorations, make sure to shop a few days before each holiday and stock on pumpkin carving kits or holiday piece set, Christmas table runners, Christmas trees ornaments, and holiday decor for every occasion in the coming year.

If you think Walmart is cheap, think again: You can save even more with these secrets!
